Account & Data Deletion
1. Application & Developer Identification
This page outlines the official Account and Data Deletion procedures for:
- Application Name: Sonatales
- Developer & Operating Entity: Aksbyte Technology
- Contact: support.aksbyte@gmail.com
In compliance with Google Play's Data Safety and Account Deletion policies, Sonatales provides both an in-app deletion path and a direct external web/email request mechanism that does not require you to reinstall or open the mobile application.
2. How to Request Deletion In-App
If you have the Sonatales app installed on your device:
- Open the Sonatales app.
- Tap the settings (gear) icon in the top bar.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm your selection in the dialog prompt.
Your account will immediately enter a scheduled deletion status.
3. Web / Email Deletion Request (Without the App)
If you have uninstalled the app or do not have access to your mobile device, you can submit a manual deletion request:
- Send an email to support.aksbyte@gmail.com.
- Email Subject:
Delete my Sonatales account - Sender Address: You must send the email from the exact Google Account email address associated with your Sonatales profile.
- Message Body: State your full name and confirm your explicit request to delete your Sonatales account and all associated listening records.
Our administrative team will process your verified request and send you a confirmation notice within 48 hours.
4. Deletion Timeline & 30-Day Grace Period
- 30-Day Scheduled Window: Once a deletion request is initiated (either in-app or via email), your account is deactivated and scheduled for permanent deletion.
- Cancellation Grace Period: If you change your mind, you can cancel the deletion request by simply signing into the Sonatales app using your Google Account at any time during these 30 days.
- Permanent Purge: At the expiration of the 30-day grace period, all associated personal records are irrevocably and permanently deleted from our databases; copies in backups are removed as those backups expire.
5. Types of Data Permanently Deleted
Upon completion of the deletion process, the following categories of data are destroyed:
- Account & Identity Data: Your Google account ID, user profile, name, email address, and profile photo reference.
- Library & Preferences: All saved stories, favorites, and language selections.
- Listening History: Complete episode playback records, playback progress timestamps, total listening hours, and consecutive streak history.
- Device & Tokens: Linked device records, operating system identifiers, and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) push notification tokens.
- Notification Records: Notification read records.
6. Types of Data Retained & Legal Exceptions
Certain limited records cannot or need not be deleted immediately:
- Anonymous Guest Data: Data used without an account is stored on our servers linked to a device ID, not to your account, so deleting your account doesn't delete it; to delete it, email us with your device ID (Settings → Email us adds it).
- Story Reports: Story reports are linked to a device ID, not your account, and are kept for app safety.
- Financial & Regulatory Records: Cryptographic purchase tokens, invoice summaries, and financial transaction records must be retained for the minimum period mandated by applicable tax and financial record-keeping laws.
7. Subscriptions Must Be Cancelled Separately
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE: Deleting your Sonatales account will NOT automatically cancel an ongoing subscription billed through Google Play.
Because Google manages your recurring subscription billing, you must manually cancel your active Sonatales Plus subscription in Google Play (Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions) to prevent future automatic charges.
8. Deleting Listening Data Without Deleting Your Account
If you wish to clear your listening history, favorites, and streak counts while keeping your account active:
- Send an email to support.aksbyte@gmail.com with the subject
Delete my Sonatales listening data. - We will reset your listening progress, favorites, and history without deleting your Google login registration.
- Users without an account can also ask for this, by including their device ID.
